Athletes fought for the Cup of the Governor of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug
On Saturday, December 10, in the capital of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the NAO Governor’s Boxing Cup took place. At the invitation of the head of the region, Yuri Bezdudny, athletes from the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics and the Republic of Crimea came to the tournament in Naryan-Mar. Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, world champion Nikolai Valuev and Olympic champion Rakhim Chakhkiev became special guests of the competition, the portal of state bodies of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug reports.
“There have not been so many spectators here for a long time. The Cup is held not for the first time, since 2006, and it has become truly traditional. But today, this year, the borders of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug have moved apart – today we meet teams from Luhansk, Donetsk, Crimea. May the strongest win,” said the governor of the NAO, Yuri Bezdudny, opening the competition.
Recall that in August of this year, thanks to the support of the Governor of the NAO, 20 young men and women from Naryan-Mar, Shakhtyorsk, Zhdanovka, Donetsk and Luhansk were trained for three weeks in a summer sports and recreation camp based on the Wolfram boarding house, one of the best sports bases Kabardino-Balkaria. At a meeting between Yuri Bezdudny and young boxers and coaching staff, the idea came up to invite athletes from the DPR and LPR, as well as boxers from Crimea, to a tournament in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
In the strongest bouts, the NAO team won the cup of the head of the region. The team of the LPR, DPR and Crimea lost only one point to the northerners. The score of the tournament is 5:4.
It doesn’t matter who was the winner, there were no losers today. Today, all the winners are Donetsk, Lugansk, Crimea, and, of course, our district. The most important thing is that all the spectators enjoyed it, because the fights were amazing,” said the governor of the NAO, Yuri Bezdudny.
