In the regions of the Far Eastern Federal District, a high turnout is recorded on the first day of the presidential elections in the Russian Federation

In many regions of the Far East, there is a high voter turnout on the first day of voting in the presidential elections, according to information from regional election commissions. The highest figure was recorded in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, where more than half of the voters have already voted.

The turnout of Chukotka residents at 15:00 local time exceeded 50%, 16,786 people have already taken part in voting (out of 33,534 people on the lists), the district election commission reported today, March 15. “Traditionally, the villages of the Egvekinot urban district show a good turnout. He is also the district leader in turnout – 62%,” says the press release. One hundred percent turnout was recorded in the village of Nutepelmen (near Egvekinot), where the entire population voted – 61 voters. Earlier, during early voting, border guards on Ratmanov Island, military personnel on Wrangel Island, reindeer herders, meteorologists, road workers, workers in the mining and gas industries, as well as crew members of nine ships – a total of 3,585 people – exercised their voting rights.

The Magadan Region Election Commission reported a record turnout for the region of 38% at 15:00 local time. In the Sakhalin region, almost 30% voted at the same time. In the Khabarovsk Territory, the turnout was, according to the regional election commission, 21.34%, which was also considered large numbers.
