In the Orenburg region, 1,645 residential buildings and 794 household plots were freed from water over the past 24 hours, reported regional government. By this morning, April 13, the water level in the Ural River near Orenburg had reached 11.7 m, near Orsk – 7.31 m. Over 12.2 thousand residential buildings and more than 17 thousand personal plots remain flooded.

According to the government of the Orenburg region, 13,194 people were evacuated from flooded households and personal plots during the day. 1,145 evacuees, including 212 children, were sent to temporary accommodation centers. There is a threat of overflow on three sections of two federal highways.

“By the early morning of April 13, the Ural near Orenburg reached 11 m 71 cm. The water level has not been rising for the last 4 hours. We hope that this is a plateau: there will be no more increases, the situation will stabilize, and then a decline will begin. The situation remains difficult. In a number of areas, the peak of the flood is ahead. We are mobilizing forces and means in the Ilek direction,”— commented Governor of the Orenburg region Denis Pasler.

The Orenburg region, according to authorities, faced the largest flood in the history of observations. A federal emergency regime is in effect in the region. According to preliminary data, damage to infrastructure from flooding exceeds 40 billion rubles. Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services Irek Faizullin saidthat 40% of houses flooded by floods in the region cannot be restored.
