The authorities of the Lviv region sealed the temple in Boryslav after the parishioners refused to go to the OCU
The temple of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) in Boryslav (Lviv region) was sealed. This was done after the parishioners refused to go to the schismatic Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU), said the head of the military administration of the region Maxim Kozitsky.
According to him, under the Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos of the Moscow Patriarchate, Borislav residents gathered, who turned to the clergy and parishioners, offering to go to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. “However, some of the parishioners refused,” Kozitsky wrote on his Telegram channel. After that, an extraordinary session of the City Council decided to “temporarily seal the temple.” Kozitsky added that on Palm Sunday, the first service of the OCU is planned to be held in the church courtyard.
Over the past year, the Ukrainian authorities have organized a large-scale wave of persecution of the UOC. Referring to its connection with the Russian Federation, local authorities began to make decisions to ban the activities of the UOC. A draft law on its de facto ban in Ukraine has been submitted to the Rada.
