Voluntary people’s squads in the Kursk region switched to round-the-clock duty. This was announced by Governor Roman Starovoit at an operational meeting in the regional government. The broadcast was conducted on the government’s page on VKontakte.

“Since the May holidays, voluntary people’s squads have been patrolling round-the-clock patrols in the border areas on an ongoing basis of critical engineering infrastructure,” he said.

Starovoit instructed the regional government to ensure round-the-clock duty until further notice. According to the governor, the authorities of the region analyzed the events related to the penetration of Ukrainian saboteurs into the Bryansk and Belgorod regions. In this regard, in the Kursk region they plan to continue strengthening the state border and fortifications, he specified.

March 2 sabotage and reconnaissance group (DRG) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine penetrated in the Bryansk region. Saboteurs opened fire on a car in the village of Lubechan. As a result, two people died. Later, the FSB reported that the members of the DRG were “squeezed out” into the territory of Ukraine, where they were subjected to a massive artillery strike. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the attack on the Bryansk region a terrorist act.

May 22 Ukrainian saboteurs attacked to the Graivoronsky district of the Belgorod region. As a result of the incident, one resident of the village of Kozinka died, and 13 more people were injured. During the counter-terrorist operation, the enemy was blocked and defeated, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu reported. The remnants of the militants were forced out by the Russian military into the territory of Ukraine and liquidated, he said. By data Ministry of Defense, more than 70 saboteurs were destroyed.

In the Kursk, Bryansk and Belgorod regions, a high (“yellow”) level of terrorist danger is indefinitely in effect. Since October 19, 2022, by decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the average level of response has been set in the regions. The same regime operates in five more regions – Crimea, Sevastopol, Krasnodar Territory, Voronezh and Rostov regions.
