In the Kaluga region, the appearance of school coloring with a rainbow flag was explained

Not only the governor of the Kaluga region, but also the State Duma became interested in the scandal

Social networks first in the Kaluga region, and then everywhere stirred up the news. On the ROV (“Conversations about the Important”), first-graders painted a flag with a rainbow. But not the same as usual. The coloring page was timed to coincide with World Tolerance Day. Angry parents filed a complaint with the regional Ministry of Education. Then the scandal reached the governor of the region, the HRC and the State Duma.

The school has started a regional audit. State Duma deputy Alexander Khinshtein also intervened in the situation. He contacted the governor of the Kaluga region Vladislav Shapsha about the incident. Then he said that “this case in the Kaluga region is the only one.” And he hinted that the retired teacher herself did not know what she was doing, they say, in the provinces people are not as advanced as in megacities.

The coloring story happened in the former gymnasium No. 1 of Maloyaroslavets, by the way, the oldest in the city. 110 years ago, this place was the first private women’s gymnasium Korsak in the city. And in the Soviet years, the teaching staff and the population of the city were replenished with “former” and other political exiles for 101 kilometers. Among the children of the repressed in Maloyaroslavets was the future poet, bard Julius Kim.

But it is unlikely that the genius of the place prompted an elementary school teacher with 30 years of experience to conduct an inappropriate drawing lesson. The problem is rather “in the speed of changing events.” Here, for example, is the order of the Ministry of Education of May 2021, the calendar of educational events for 2021-22. And in it, November 16 is the International Day of Tolerance (since 1995, the holiday has been celebrated in the Russian Federation). Recommended for implementation at the regional level.

But if you look at the official website of “Conversations about the Important”, developed by one of the divisions of the Russian Academy of Education by September 2022, there is nothing like that anymore. No “tolerance” is mentioned in the materials. The topic for next Monday (14.11) is announced as “We are different, but we are together.” And by “different” we mean differences in cultural codes and even time zones in a country. “Traveling around Russia” is the name of the instruction for elementary grades. National dishes, there, costumes, plants in different parts of the homeland …

The Kaluga Ministry of Education and Science, in connection with the incident, reported that a single ROI lesson was held in the region, dedicated to the “diversity of the peoples of Russia.” And a teacher from Maloyaroslavets “on her own paid attention to the International Day of Tolerance.” But there was no intent in her actions: “The materials were aimed solely at revealing the concept of tolerance as respect and goodwill,” the department stressed.

The governor of the Shapsha region even urged the public “not to fall into insanity.” Like, a rainbow is such a natural phenomenon, and if the celestial arc is also someone’s symbol, this is their problem.

– Larisa Vadimovna (name changed) is 60 years old, – says the mother of one of the students of the Maloyaroslavets school, Elena. – Well, yes, a person is not very friendly with computers, with gadgets. She is generally an old school person. I willingly believe that I do not know how different rainbows can differ from each other. And why there can be 6 colors in one, and not 7. Probably, I printed it out and did not notice. And the children didn’t pay attention either, some painted another purple stripe underneath, and that’s it.

There, on a piece of paper, there is not only a drawing of a flag, little men and a calendar with the date November 16th. There, the right words had to be chosen – tolerance, kindness, justice … This is close to her, she is an excellent teacher who treats children with love and soul. I don’t know why this story was blown up. Larisa Vadimovna is a person who is above all this.
