In the Ivanovo region, the “siloviki” played chess according to the Swiss system

The sports hall of the Ivanovo society “Dynamo” became a platform for the regional chess tournament, the participants of which were employees and veterans of law enforcement agencies.
Six national teams took part in the championship. Almost thirty chess fans competed in both individual and team championships. Competitions were held according to the Swiss system – in seven rounds. It is an alternative to the round robin, in which each participant plays with each successively in rounds. The selection of opponents takes place on the basis of an equal number of points scored during the chess tournament. The Swiss system does not involve the elimination of players from the competition bracket.
According to the results of the rounds in the team standings, the team of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs of the region won the championship. In the individual competition, all the prizes were also taken by employees and veterans of this department. In the first place is an employee of the forensic center, police major Mikhail Ershov, in the second place is the senior district police officer, senior police lieutenant Maxim Arsenin, in the third place is a veteran of the police department, retired police colonel Ruslan Lashkov.
The winners received cups and certificates.
