In the Irkutsk region, due to frosts down to –50°, a special regime has been introduced – Kommersant

In the Irkutsk region, a high alert regime was introduced from December 8 to 15 due to severe frosts. How reports press service of the regional government, the corresponding decree was signed by Governor Igor Kobzev. In the northern regions of the Angara region this morning frosts down to –50°C were observed. They are expected to persist for the next three to four days.

“In the period from December 8 to 11, severe frosts are expected in places across the region with minimum air temperatures of –40–45°C, in the northern and Upper Lena regions up to –50°C. In Irkutsk, from December 8 to 12, abnormally cold weather is expected with an average daily temperature 11–17 ° C below the climate norm,” the message clarifies, citing data from the Irkutsk UGMS.

Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Irkutsk region statedthat fire and rescue units in the region have been placed on high alert. The department also provides temperature data for the morning and first half of the day on December 8 for a number of regional centers and large cities. In Kirensk it was 50°C below zero, in Ust-Kut – 49°C, in Kazachinsky – 46°C, in Ust-Ilimsk – 45°C.
