The EU does not rule out the possibility of Hungary leaving the European Union in the light of Budapest’s recent actions. This was stated in an interview with the Czech radio station iROZHLAS by the Minister of the Czech Government for European Affairs Mikulas Beck. The Czech Republic currently holds the presidency of the European Union.
Beck stressed that negotiations in the EU are often difficult. But at the same time, Hungary, he believes, is on the edge of a kind of abyss and now must decide whether to move away from him or jump.
Beck also said that in the coming months he will be engaged in “keeping Hungary in the European mainstream.” He noted a small positive signal for the EU – Budapest’s refusal to demand the removal of three oligarchs from the EU sanctions list.
Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has repeatedly spoken out in favor of lifting anti-Russian sanctions. In his opinion, they are ineffective.
