Foreign Ministry does not plan to introduce visas for Ukrainians

Information about the plans of the Russian Foreign Ministry to introduce visas for citizens of Ukraine is incorrect, the response of the Russian side to the introduction of a visa regime by Kyiv will not be a mirror image. About it informed Maria Zakharova, official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“The concrete reaction of the Russian side is currently being worked out. However, when making a decision, we do not intend to act like a mirror image. We will proceed, first of all, from the interests of Russia and humanitarian considerations, ”her comment says.
Russia is not interested in creating additional difficulties for ordinary Ukrainians, in particular refugees, as well as family members living in both countries.
On July 1, Ukraine introduced a visa regime with Russia. From now on, in order to enter the country, Russians must apply at one of the VFS Global visa centers in eight cities of the Russian Federation – Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Kaliningrad, Kazan, Novosibirsk, Rostov-on-Don and Samara.
The issue of restrictions on issuing Schengen visas to Russians was discussed in the EU on 31 August. Poland, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia bordering on Russia demanded that the European Commission tighten its visa policy towards Russia. At the same time, a number of countries, including Germany and Hungary, did not support a complete ban on issuing visas to Russians. The Council of the European Union today decided to completely suspend the visa facilitation agreement between the EU and Russia from 12 September.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum (WEF), said that Russia is not going to close itself from European citizens and businesses, despite the planned EU restrictions.
“We are interested in young people coming and studying with us… so that businesses come here and work, despite all the restrictions… Welcome, please, let them come and work,” he said then.
