Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on conscription for compulsory military service. According to document130 thousand people will be drafted into the army in the fall.

Citizens liable for military service who are from 18 to 27 years of age fit for health reasons and who are not in the reserve will be called up. The autumn conscription will begin on October 1 and end on December 31, 2023.

Deputy Chief of the General Staff Directorate Vladimir Tsimlyansky today emphasizedthat conscripts will not be sent to new regions to participate in military operations there. After completing military service, they will be promptly dismissed and sent home, he assured.

From October 1, the fine for failure to appear at the military registration and enlistment office on a summons without a good reason will increase (Article 21.5 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation). The maximum fine will be 30 thousand rubles. Advising law signed Vladimir Putin July 31.

In the spring conscription of 2023, 147 thousand people were called up for military service. Last year, the autumn conscription began a month later – from November 1, and lasted until December 31. The postponement occurred against the backdrop of partial mobilization, which took place from September 21 to October 31. 120 thousand people were called up for military service in the armed forces in 2022.
