“Scythian gold” belongs to Crimea, where it belongs – this is how the Kremlin commented on the transfer of unique valuables to Ukraine. The trial on this matter lasted almost 10 years. The artifacts have already arrived in Kyiv, where they are being identified. “Scythian Gold” is a collection of more than 2 thousand objects that have been in the Allard Pearson Museum in Amsterdam since 2014. Kommersant FM political commentator Dmitry Drize considers this case to be a precedent.

For almost 10 years, the Dutch court decided the fate of the “Scythian gold.” And so, after considering all the appeals, he decided to return the unique collection to Ukraine.

The exhibits traveled from Crimea to Europe for an exhibition in February 2014. The “Crimean Spring” found them there. That is, valuables were leaving one country, and they were offered to return to another. The position of the Russian Federation was as follows: we have nothing to do with it, this is a museum business, museums are outside of politics, artifacts are the property of the peoples of Crimea, there, on the peninsula, they have a place, they are an integral part of it. You don’t want to destroy cultural heritage, do you?

But the court decided that the treasures belonged primarily to the state of Ukraine. Thus, Western Themis refused to recognize Crimea as Russian. And yes, a precedent is being created: everything that is of Crimean origin and located outside its territory can theoretically be returned to Kyiv by court.

The question, apparently, was not simple, otherwise how to explain such a long consideration. At the same time, it must be emphasized once again that the court is guided solely by the law, and not by political preferences. Although, of course, there is always a pressure factor. However, from a formal point of view there should be no complaints. There is a law – there is a verdict.

Of course, we can say that politicians come and go, but the “Scythian gold” remains. The people were truly deprived of his national heritage. So after all, a simple person always turns out to be the extreme one, he suffers first of all, this is how it has been since the creation of the world.

There is another life principle: you have to pay for everything in the end. Nothing comes for free. And our Crimea is by no means an exception. It’s a pity, of course, that culture and history are suffering. But this matter is fixable.

We will create copies that will be even better than the originals. Nothing is impossible for us. Nowadays, God forbid, what kind of technology the Scythians definitely didn’t have. And there will be no problems with the historical justification; everything will shine with new colors. And, finally, you can live without culture—it’s not like you’ve been deprived of bread.

However, it is unpleasant, they did not respect and were not afraid of the wrath of the righteous of a large country. And there is nothing to answer. Nowadays, former partners do not bring us their exhibits.
