Since February 2022, more than 4.5 thousand residents of the DPR have been killed from shelling by the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The number of civilians in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) who became victims of shelling by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) since February 17, 2022 has reached 4,551, with 136 children among the dead. This was announced on Monday, May 29, at the DPR representative office at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination.
The department also calculated that 4,559 residents of the DPR, including 298 children, received injuries as a result of shelling by the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the same period.
The Ukrainian military continues to shell Russian regions, and official Kyiv claims that it does not strike at the territory of the Russian Federation, and explains its actions by the fact that it does not consider Crimea and Donbass to be part of Russia.
A similar position is held by Western countries that continue to provide military assistance to Ukraine. In the United States, they claim that they have introduced a rule prohibiting the Armed Forces of Ukraine from using American weapons to shell the Russian Federation. However, Crimea and Donbass, according to Washington, are Ukrainian territories “occupied” by Russia, and therefore the rule does not apply to them.
