On July 22, in the vicinity of Anadyr, open district competitions “Running in the Arctic” will be held. The organizer is the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug with the support of the Government of the region. This time the athletes will have to overcome the distance of 21 km 100 m.
“This year we are waiting for participation in the race from the municipalities of the district. We will pay for the flight and accommodation. I know that athletes from Bilibino and the Chukotka region have already submitted applications, and I invite other regions to join as well,” said Evgeny Tikhomirov, Acting Head of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The start will take place at 11:00 on the territory of the “Helipad”. Registration of participants will begin at 10:00, you need to have an identity document, a certificate of admission to competitions from a doctor, life insurance against accidents.
Winners and prize-winners will be awarded with diplomas and medals. All participants of the event will receive souvenirs.
The event is private and held separately for men and women. The individual championship is determined by the best result shown by the participants at the half marathon distance.
The trail “Running in the Arctic” will be held in the vicinity of Anadyr for the third time. Last year there were 38 participants. It should be noted that the district athletics competitions are included in the calendar plan of physical culture and sports events of the Chukotka Autonomous Region for 2023.
