In the Murmansk Valley of Comfort, the second day of the 49th ski marathon has ended. Read more about the results in the material “MK in Murmansk”.
Not only athletes and amateurs from hundreds of Russian cities, but also citizens of Norway and the Republic of Belarus took part in the competition. In total, 409 people came out at a distance of 25 and 50 kilometers. This was reported in the Ministry of Information Policy of the Murmansk region.
Vice-Governor Elena Dyagileva greeted the participants of the North Festival. She said that she was waiting for everyone at the anniversary Murmansk ski marathon next year.
Yesterday the athletes overcame marathon and half marathon distances in free style. Many of them competed for prizes in the classical style. So, the silver medalist of the Olympic Games Alexander Panzhinsky became a participant in the tests at a distance of 25 kilometers.
The best at a distance of 50 kilometers in the classical style was the champion of Russia Alexei Shemyakin. Among women, Olga Tsareva, multiple champion of Russia, winner of the World Universiade, won.
During the Murmansk Ski Marathon, the second day of the Yukigassen Cup of the Murmansk Region took place in parallel, as well as the traditional “March of the Kids”. It was attended by about 500 preschoolers from different municipalities of the region.
Also, as part of the Northern Festival, the Festival of Northern Peoples’ Culture was held, where guests could taste national dishes and listen to performances by original groups and even ride a reindeer sled.
The ministry reminded that the events will last until April 16. The closing ceremony will take place at the Ice Palace in Murmansk.
