In the Amur region, activists are seeking to cancel the concert of US citizen Kristina Orbakaite

The public association Union of Combat Veterans demanded the cancellation of the tour performances in Blagoveshchensk by singer Kristina Orbakaite. The text of the letter with an appeal addressed to the Governor of the Amur Region Vasily Orlov was published in Blagoveshchensk Telegram channel veterans Zov. Earlier, Kristina Orbakaite’s concert was canceled in Ulan-Ude: the performance was supposed to take place on March 13, but the organization “Combat Brotherhood of Buryatia” opposed it.

“We categorically demand that the US citizen’s tour be canceled… Combat veterans and family members of fallen defenders of the Fatherland perceive Orbakaite’s concerts as a personal insult and disrespect for the memory of their fallen comrades. We also ask you to send this information to the competent authorities to check whether there are CIA employees or other intelligence organizations in K. Orbakaite’s concert group,” the text of the appeal says. The authors ask their subscribers to copy the text of the letter and send it to the Telegram bot of the governor of the Amur region, and the appeal is also distributed in messengers.

Not everyone in the Amur region agrees with this formulation of the issue. “Orbakaite did not do anything illegal for our state, and if she did, let her be prosecuted according to the law. She is a citizen of the Russian Federation, like all of us, and we are depriving a person of the right to work, but what right do we have to do this? It turns out that we are depriving some of the constitutional right to work, and others, who bought tickets for it, of the right to rest. And how then do we differ from those who knock down monuments to Pushkin or attack those who speak Russian? We must be above this, not sink to this level and not stand on the same level with those who ban the Russian language and attack people just because they hold a Russian passport,” an honored journalist of Russia, a resident, shared his opinion with Kommersant. Kristina Orbakaite is a Soviet and Russian pop singer, actress, and in 2013 she was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation. Her concerts in the capital of the Amur region are scheduled for March 15 and 16 at the social and cultural center. Ticket prices are up to 6 thousand rubles, most tickets have already been sold out.
