On Monday, July 3, a funeral ceremony was held at the Serafimovsky cemetery in St. Petersburg for the volunteers who died during the special military operation in Ukraine.
How reported in the press service of Smolny, among them were volunteers from the St. Petersburg battalion “Neva” – Mikhail Sokolov, Roman Galinsky, Mikhail Manushkin and Sergei Isaiko. All fighters were posthumously awarded the Order of Courage.
The governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov and the chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the city Alexander Belsky came to honor the memory of the dead.
“They went to defend their homeland. Fulfilling military duty, they died in a heavy battle. They are the successors of the military glory of Russia. We are proud of our countrymen. Petersburg will keep the memory of them,” the governor said.
Mr. Beglov also expressed condolences to the families and friends of the fallen soldiers.
