The government of St. Petersburg plans to charge tourists a resort fee, its amount will be 100 rubles. per day. The implementation of the new system will take place in an experimental format from August 1, 2023 to December 31, 2024. This is stated in draft resolution government, published on March 7 on the portal of anti-corruption expertise.
All adult tourists staying in accommodation facilities for more than a day will pay the fee. Moreover, they plan to collect money both from those who stayed in official hotels, and from those who spend the night in other residential premises suitable for temporary residence. The collection operator will transfer funds to the city budget in the month following the reporting month.
The fee will not be levied on veterans, war invalids, citizens awarded with badges of heroes, disabled people of groups I and II, low-income families, tuberculosis patients and those who arrived in the city for treatment.
Vladimir Putin December 5 signed decree extending the resort fee until January 1, 2025. According to it, St. Petersburg and the federal territory “Sirius” in the Krasnodar Territory, which hosted the 2014 Winter Olympics, were added to the list of cities with a resort fee.
The tourist tax experiment started in 2018. Currently, this practice operates in the Altai, Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories. The amount of the fee does not exceed 50 rubles. per day. Previously, the fee was collected in the Crimea, but in February the parliament of the republic canceled the law.
