The preliminary cost of creating the Russian Orbital Station (ROS) has already been determined, but they will not disclose it yet, said Deputy Prime Minister – Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov.
The statement was made in the Amur Region at the Vostochny cosmodrome, after the launch of the Soyuz-2.1b rocket.
Reluctance to disclose the cost of the orbital station, Manturov argued that the preliminary design of the ROS is not yet ready, and its defense “will be held with the participation of a wide range of scientists and experts.” The preliminary design should be completed in the second half of 2023.
According to Manturov, Vostochny will be the base spaceport for the deployment of the new station, despite the lack of infrastructure for manned launches. Thus, it will be necessary to build a new transport system, ground infrastructure facilities, a control, search and rescue complex for astronauts.
Earlier, the CEO of Roskosmos, Yuri Borisov, announced the accelerated pace of work on the creation of the Russian national orbital station.
