The protection of teachers in schools has indeed become particularly relevant. It got to the point that a draft law on “protecting teachers from harassment” was submitted to the State Duma – in this wording. And in the Chelyabinsk region, the local head of the education department has matured to the point that he proposes to introduce the position of an ombudsman to protect the rights of a teacher.
Beggarly wages and total employment are called the main reasons for the low prestige of teaching work. In order for the amount of payments “in hand” to somehow approach the regional salary minimum (which, in fact, was guaranteed to teachers by the May decrees of the president), school teachers work more than 45 hours a week, with a norm of no more than 36 hours . And the system of five paper reports declared above was unobtrusively supplemented by online constructors, electronic forms and tasks. Nobody canceled the notorious check of notebooks, preparation for the Unified State Examination, VPRam and control ones.
– So far, these endless school changes are not good for everyone, – says the mother of a 6th grade student and a member of the parent committee, Elena Alevtova. “Teachers are people too, and when they don’t take them out, they shift them to others. For children and parents, mostly. Yesterday we did 30 math assignments in one evening. thirty! Almost every day, online tests are given in various subjects. It is convenient for the teacher, but the fact that the tests freeze all the time is not their problem. Electronic systems for the school are not debugged, and even with the correct answers they hang and do not count them. So you sit, struggling with one test for 40 minutes …. And, at the same time, I don’t blame the teachers at all. Being in the committee, I see that the majority is trying to convey knowledge, but the requirements for them are exorbitant.
The lack of social educators and tutors is another major problem of the modern school, which since 2015 has taken a clear course towards inclusion. The idea is good, the execution not so much. In regions where schools are overcrowded and still work double shifts, the requirement of three or fewer children with disabilities in one class is not met. Often difficult to teach children for 7-9 people. Meanwhile, even one non-standard child can significantly complicate the life of an entire class.
“The economic reasons for the low social significance of the teaching profession are not so easy to eliminate,” says Maria Bushueva, teacher of Russian language and literature, an expert in the field of education. “Our schools have different levels of subordination and the work of teachers is paid from different budgets. A single payment system is good – but “at whose expense will the banquet” be? So far it has not been explained anywhere. The same is with social teachers, who either do not exist at all, or one for several schools. It is in their competence to counter bullying, analyze conflicts, resolve disputes, interact with police departments for working with minors. But most schools cannot afford either social pedagogues or the same tutors. They hang everything on the head teacher or deputy for educational work. And they have no business up to their throats. Because schools are self-financing and cannot pay “extra” specialists. You can’t hang tutors on parents either, although it would seem that they are the first to be interested. As a result, both children, and teachers, and the unfortunate families themselves with “deviating” children suffer.
“MK” also communicates a lot with teachers, reads their public pages. These are the most common complaints. Low salary is number one in any rating, it is impossible to live on 18-25 thousand. Then the children “go” whose parents do not persuade in any way to go through the PMPK (psycho-medical-pedagogical commission – ed.) But they don’t want to go through such commissions, because you can not only get a simplified training group for a child, but also sit on home schooling. This means that the parent will not be able to work. Complaint number three is bureaucratic. Federal State Educational Standards and FOPs (Federal Education Standards and Programs – Author), online advanced training courses, certifications, all kinds of reporting. It does not become less, at least kill yourself – so the teachers write.
If we talk about more specific examples, these are complaints about children who do not part with their phones at school and are unable to tear themselves away from them even during lessons. You can’t take the phone away, you can’t leave it either. And for students who do not want to work at school, they are insolent, do not study, etc.
To complete the picture, there are also many stories about how they are clamped down in schools for MS (young professionals — Auth.). Because of what, and not just for economic reasons, sparkling heels, young people run away from school. There are many disturbing examples of non-observance of the labor rights of pregnant women. And reports about the imposition of class management, appointment to the commission for the Unified State Examination or to observers, about underpayments for processing, in general, about arbitrariness and bullying on the part of the school administration.
Which, at times, even take creative forms. At one school, the principal recently had teachers make and paste an “interactive floor” throughout the school, complete with colorful squares and mazes. In another, teachers are not allowed to come to work in “unfeminine” sneakers and ballet flats. In the third case, they were forced to write a play and play the play “The Trial of Inertia” with the students on stage. By physics. And this is not to mention simple and undemanding disciplinary sanctions for teachers: for dirt in the classroom, for poor grades at the Unified State Examination and VPR, for parents or children not coming to extracurricular activities.
