The traffic police inspectors were allowed to take the cars of Russians to the impound for a burning ABS indicator. The corresponding decree came into force on September 1, reports Autonews.
According to the traffic police officer, the anti-lock braking system is an integral part of the service brake system, whose serviceability directly affects the safety of the vehicle. A malfunction of this system is detected by the indicator light for monitoring the working condition of the ABS.
As lawyer Orest Matsala admitted, the traffic police inspector, looking at the burning indicators, can find problems with ABS and other elements. He clarified that the detention of the car to the impound could happen if the malfunction is related to the brake system. In addition, the lawyer recalled that driving a vehicle is also prohibited if the steering and hitch, headlights and parking lights at night, as well as the windshield wiper are malfunctioning.
In other cases, according to Matsala, the owner of the car faces only a fine.
