The government obliges foreign investors to coordinate the catch of cod, mackerel and shrimp
The Russian government has introduced new rules for foreign investors who plan to fish in the country. This was reported on the website of the Cabinet.
Now foreigners need to obtain approval for the rights to harvest 47 types of biological resources in the Northern, West Siberian and Far Eastern fishery basins. This list includes cod, mackerel, halibut, some varieties of shrimp, capelin, pollock, Far Eastern flounder and many other species.
It is noted that the effect of the new rules applies to transactions in which the investor will be allowed to produce more than 35% of the total allowable catch of these biological resources in a particular fishery basin.
The Cabinet believes that such a measure will strengthen control over foreign investment in the field of fisheries.
