In Russia, for the first time since March 14, more than 40 thousand people infected with COVID-19 were detected per day

In Russia, 40,010 cases of coronavirus infection were registered over the past day. This is 6.3% more than the day before (37,609), and the maximum since March 14th. The number of daily hospitalizations amounted to 3450 – 3% more than the previous indicator (3349), the operational headquarters for combating COVID-19 reported.

Regions leading in the number of new cases:

• Moscow – 8259 (for all time – 2 954 169),
• St. Petersburg – 4399 (1 612 863),
• Moscow region – 3093 (1,032,656),
• Krasnodar Territory – 1413 (278 471),
• Rostov region – 1232 (391 987).

During the day, 69 cases died in Russia, which is four more than yesterday (65). Most of the dead were in Moscow (25) and St. Petersburg (16). The total number of deaths reached 383,496. During the day, 24,222 people recovered, in total – 18,262,350.

In August Rospotrebnadzor recommended wear masks to “vulnerable categories of citizens”, as well as advised to return the mask regime to regions where the incidence exceeds 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Such measures accepted in Tatarstan, Dagestan, Gorny Altai, Krasnoyarsk Territory, Vologda and Novosibirsk regions. Doctors expect increase in the incidence of COVID-19 to last winter.
