Alexander Somryakov, convicted in Krasnodar for disseminating false information about the Russian Armed Forces, was deprived of his acquired Russian citizenship, they reported TASS And “RIA News” citing sources in law enforcement agencies. This is the first case of deprivation of acquired citizenship for charges under Art. 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

Alexander Somryakov was sentenced to six years in a general regime colony on July 20, 2023. Since October 2023, Russia has had a law on deprivation of acquired citizenship for sabotage, desertion, discrediting the RF Armed Forces, calls for war and other violations that threaten the national security of the country. In total, the list contains 60 criminal articles. Last December in Russia for the first time deprived acquired citizenship due to failure to appear for military registration.
