The newspaper Wyborcza reports that the inhabitants of Poland have become more active in demonstrating dissatisfaction with the stay of Ukrainian refugees in their country. In particular, according to the newspaper, recently local nationalists drove Ukrainian activists from the main square of Krakow.
The newspaper noted that Ukrainian refugees “occupied” the territory near the monument to the poet Adam Mickiewicz, where every day, starting from January last year, Ukrainians came with flags and “sang hymns.” The publication indicated that the Polish nationalists were outraged by what was happening, and they held their own action under the slogan “do not give Adam to foreigners.”
It is specified that for several days, groups of local nationalists came to the monument, put up flags of Poland and posters about the Volyn massacre and Bandera, blocking access to the monument and sending Ukrainians “to sing elsewhere.” Representatives of the Polish nationalist movement “16 postulates” issued a statement that the monument to Adam Mickiewicz, occupied by Ukrainians for a year and a half, was recaptured by the Poles.
In addition, the newspaper added that during one of the manifestations, nationalists also stated that the conflict in Ukraine is a clash between Russia and the United States, and Ukrainians do not play any role in this.
