“It was established that on December 16, the air operations center subordinate to the operational commander received information from the Ukrainian side about an object approaching the Polish space, which could be a missile,” he said.
After this message, Polish and American aircraft were lifted into the air, the object was monitored through radar stations. At the same time, Blaszczak criticized the command of the Polish operational headquarters. In particular, the operational commander of the Polish Armed Forces did not report the fall of the missile on the day of the incident. In addition, only a police patrol was sent to the scene, while a helicopter patrol began searching only on December 19.
On the discovery of the wreckage of an unidentified military facility 15 km from Bydgoszcz of the Ministry of Defense of Poland reported April 27th. According to RMF radio, the air-to-ground missile was found on April 24th.
Bydgoszcz is located in the north of Poland and is not a border town. The distance to the border with Belarus from it is more than 380 km, Ukraine – more than 400 km, and Russia – 209 km.
