The Ministry of Education is trying to diversify physical education lessons in secondary schools.
This year, physical education teachers are encouraged to add modules such as badminton, fitness aerobics, wrestling, athletics, mobile chess, triathlon and floorball to the lessons. Methodological materials on the technology of teaching these disciplines have already been developed and approved.
And next year the number of modules may increase by four more. Education Minister Sergei Kravtsov said that modules on golf, rock climbing, tennis, roller sports, speed skating and biathlon will be developed.
By the way, according to the minister, sports clubs have already been set up in 74% of the country’s schools. Educational institutions are already actively introducing swimming, football, hockey, rugby, gymnastics, handball, sambo, judo, and chess in physical education classes.
