The Perm Central Amusement Park named after M. Gorky canceled the Nightmare Festival, which was supposed to take place on its territory on October 22. On the page of the park in the social network “VKontakte” explainedthat such a decision was made at the numerous requests of its guests. Instead of “Nightmarium” on this day, the park will host a festival of fairy tales based on the works of Alexander Pushkin.
Gorky Park announced the Nightmare Festival on October 6th. Fast with the program of the event collected more than 250 comments, most of which were negative. Some residents of the city pointed to the inappropriate connection of the event with religious themes and expressed indignation at the “propaganda of the American holiday” Halloween. Others expressed the opinion that such a festival should not be held during the period of hostilities and mobilization, and suggested that the park administration organize something more “kind and bright”. Users marked in the comments the official pages of the governor of the Perm Territory Dmitry Makhonin, the head of Perm Alexei Demkin and the regional Ministry of Culture to draw their attention to the situation.
Later, the announcement of the holiday was commented on by the general director of the Orthodox TV channel “Spas” Boris Korchevnikov. In his Telegram channel On October 10, he wrote that the festival planned in Perm would be “a disgusting show even in peacetime,” and today, against the background of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, “looks like satanic madness.” After that, on VKontakte, with a link to his comment, a petition about the cancellation of the festival, which at the time of publication of the news was supported by more than 1.1 thousand people.
