In Orel, over 50 people will compete for the title of the best in sailing

More than 50 athletes will take part in the Orel sailing championship. Competitions will be held from 3 to 5 August in the waters of Lake Svetlayaya Zhizn and will be timed to coincide with City Day and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Orel and the Oryol region from Nazi invaders.
Athletes will take part in the competition not only from Orel, but also from other cities such as Lipetsk, Voronezh, Moscow, Kurchatov, Kursk and Yaroslavl. Pupils of the sports school number 10 and students of the Oryol State University named after I. S. Turgenev will represent our city.
Among the participants of the competition will be such well-known athletes as Timofey Kostikov, winner of the Chernozem Cup in sailing, Dmitry Mitrokhin, winner of the Cosmos Heroes Cup regatta, Sofia Samoylenko, winner of the Yaroslav the Wise regatta, and Afanasy Stupin, winner of the Student League Cup.
During the tournament, medals will be awarded in several competition classes, including “Optimist”, “Ray”, “Ray-mini” and “Snipe”. The opening of the competition will take place on August 3 at 14:00, and the heats will start on August 4 at 10:00.
The organizers of the competition note that this event provides an excellent opportunity for the best athletes in the region to demonstrate their skills and achievements in sailing. Spectators will be able to enjoy spectacular competitions and support their favorite athletes. In addition, the holding of this tournament during the celebration of the City Day and the anniversary of the liberation will add to it even greater significance and weight for the townspeople and residents of the region.
