In Orel, almost 400 freestyle wrestlers competed for the Governor’s Cup

The winners of the Governor’s Cup among freestyle wrestlers were determined. This was reported by the press service of the regional Center for the organization and conduct of physical education and sports events. The 2-day competition took place at the GRINN sports complex.
Approximately 370 participants from Oryol and Moscow, Bryansk and Smolensk, Voronezh, Lipetsk, Tula and other regions took to the carpet. Awards were awarded in 35 weight and 3 age categories. Oryol athletes won 7 gold, 6 silver, 19 bronze awards and a team second place.
The winners of the Governor’s Cup were Marat Akopyan, Lev Anisimov, Egor Begunov, Yaroslav Volobuev, Alexander Nikolsky, Ivan Seregin, Ilya Shavlakov.
The athletes were congratulated by the commander of the people’s squad of the Oryol region “Katukov’s Brigade” Denis Orlov. He said that he himself was involved in military hand-to-hand combat and reminded the wrestlers that any sports result – victory or defeat – is an invaluable experience that will definitely be useful in life. He also emphasized that an opponent is not an enemy, but a person with whom you gain new knowledge and skills together.
