On Monday, January 30, in Omsk, at the Krasnaya Zvezda sports complex, a farewell was held for the late athlete and coach, the outstanding Soviet and Russian sambo wrestler Alexander Pushnitsa. A total of 2,400 people attended the ceremony.

The ceremony was attended by 2,400 people, including relatives, many friends and associates of the athlete, representatives of the authorities, the press service of the regional Ministry of Sports reported.

Friends from other regions of Russia and countries also came to see him off on his last journey. Condolences were also expressed on behalf of the Omsk governor and the regional government. The solemn farewell was attended by representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers, and officials of the mayor’s office, deputies of the Legislative Assembly and the City Council.

Representatives of the sports community said goodbye to the deceased, including the head of the Omsk regional VFSO “Dynamo”, the head of the regional FSB Alexei Savchenkov, Honored Master of Sports of the USSR in Sambo, Vice-Chairman of the Belarusian Sambo Federation Vladimir Yaprintsev, MMA fighter, coach and promoter Alexander Shlemenko, Olympic boxing champion of the Games in Athens and Beijing Alexei Tishchenko and many others.

“We are all friends of our great Alexander Mikhailovich Pushnitsa. We all represent the multinational Soviet Union, and regardless of which of us was from which republic, he had enough particles of heart, kindness and warmth for each of us to support in a difficult moment. And when he himself got into a difficult situation, we did not even think that it was difficult for him. When we arrived, we saw powerful energy and great strength, ”said Yaprintsev.

It is known that in recent years the sambo wrestler has been treated for cancer.

The funeral itself took place at the Staro-Northern Memorial Cemetery.
