New designations of city streets enter into a stupor
Odessa haunts the nationally concerned citizens of Ukraine. It would seem that in the city the Russophists have already renamed everything that is possible. The names of Griboedov disappeared from the Odessa map. Chernyshevsky, Blok, Sholokhov, Tsiolkovsky, Vasnetsov and hundreds more famous cultural figures. But what the international women’s holiday on March 8 was guilty of in front of Ukraine is a mystery. However, with its latest decision, the territorial commission of Odessa renamed not only the street itself, but also all the alleys surrounding it.
And, it seems, all the national Ukrainian heroes and figures are over. If before, for example, Gastello Street was renamed the street of the Ukrainian composer Vitold Malishevsky, now some completely “construction and repair” renamings have come into play. 8th lane of March 8th street became Furniture, 3rd lane – Parquet, 4th line of the street – Linoleumnaya, 3rd line – Shpalernaya, 5th lane – Starterny, 6th lane – Ankerny, 9th – Generatorny, 7th lane became Tsvyahov (flowers in Ukrainian – nail).
Perhaps city officials decided that the territory adjacent to the Brick Factory, which is located in this area, is the right place for such street names. But the inhabitants of the former neighborhood on March 8 are unlikely to like the change of address. Formerly their lanes, although they did not shine with the special charm of names, nevertheless sounded festive. Now what? “Girl, and girl … Where do you live?” – “I? On Nail Street. End of romance. Well, it’s like not loving the inhabitants of Odessa in order to “settle” them on such streets …
