Odessa authorities plan to rename 15 streets associated with Russia and the USSR, including Nekrasov Street, General Vatutin Street and Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya Lane. About it informs edition “Dumskaya”.

They clarified that the residents of Odessa voted for the renaming on the Socially Active Citizen portal. Dumskaya gives a list of these streets:

Since the beginning of the special operation in Ukraine, streets have been renamed and monuments associated with Russia have been demolished. On August 25, 2022, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced that the city administration had renamed 95 streets, lanes and squares whose names are associated with Russia or the USSR. In the Lviv region, eight streets were renamed in Lviv and 11 in settlements – the city of Vinniki and the urban-type village of Rudnya.

The list of the most common Russian names that are used as toponyms and are subject to renaming in the first place was prepared by the expert council of the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture last year. The list includes cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, poet Alexander Pushkin, plant breeder Ivan Michurin, test pilot Valery Chkalov, writer Maxim Gorky, commander Alexander Suvorov, poets Mikhail Lermontov and Vladimir Mayakovsky, Hero of the Soviet Union Alexander Matrosov and cosmonaut Vladimir Komarov.
