This situation arose, as noted in the material, due to the fact that the Norwegian authorities do not want to pay compensation to Moscow for the fact that deer cross the state border and graze in nature reserves. At the moment, the relevant authorities are busy restoring the dilapidated fence along the border with Russia, seeking to stop the migration of animals to the territory of neighbors.
This year, 42 deer crossed the border with Russia in search of better pastures and land. Norway must pay compensation in the amount of 50,000 crowns ($4,700) for each deer that crossed the Russian border to graze in the Pasvik nature reserve (Murmansk region). Also, the Norwegian side must pay a lump sum of about 47 million crowns (4.4 million dollars) for the time that the animals were in the protected area.
