In northern Afghanistan, Uzbeks and Tajiks confront locals who have returned from Pakistan

In the north of Afghanistan, a land conflict has been going on for a month now between immigrants who returned from Pakistan and residents of villages in the province of Takhar, which are predominantly populated by Uzbeks and Tajiks. The Directorate 4 Telegram channel writes about this.

Returnees from abroad claim they were forced to leave their homes many years ago because of the war and now want their property back. Residents of the settlements claim to have received the land more than twenty years ago during the reign of former President Burhanuddin Rabbani. They support their words with the necessary documents for the property.

The governor of the province said that the Taliban (banned in the Russian Federation) are aware of the events in Takhar. He urged residents to sort things out to go to court to resolve land disputes. At the same time, the official noted that both sides of the conflict have the right to land. However, despite the claims of the Taliban, in several villages, Pashtun nationalists sided with the immigrants, forcibly evicting residents. It is reported that the militants literally expelled more than a hundred families into the open field. Some of them were deprived of their belongings, livestock and other property.

Events in the province of Takhar may again raise the problem of the attitude of Pashtuns towards other nationalities in Afghanistan. After coming to power in a number of provinces, Tajik and Uzbek militants clashed with Pashtun nationalists, the authors of the channel write. Formally, the crimes of ethnic warlords became the reason for the conflict. According to Directorate 4, the Taliban have begun a campaign to eliminate representatives of the group, which are not controlled by Kabul. The conflict may play into the hands of both the Islamic State (banned in the Russian Federation), which is constantly in search of new supporters, and other anti-Taliban forces.
