As a result of a lengthy trial that began back in July 2021, the former owner of a network of Moscow car dealerships, Gabil Mamedov, was sentenced to eight years in prison. The Tushinsky Court of Moscow found Mamedov guilty of particularly large-scale fraud and organizing a criminal community. Kommersant reports this.
According to investigators, Mamedov, in collusion with car dealership manager Vyacheslav Pigulevsky and other accomplices, committed a series of scams, stealing over 17 million rubles from car buyers by inflating car prices and imposing unprofitable loan deals on customers.
This organized criminal community, operating in 2013-2014, controlled three car dealerships in Moscow. Its members specialized in deceiving clients, concluding with them preliminary agreements for the purchase and sale of cars at deliberately reduced prices and demanding advance payment. Later, when customers came to pick up their cars, they were informed of significant price increases.
