In Moscow, prescriptions for medicines for cancer patients will be extended remotely

The city authorities announced that electronic prescriptions for drugs prescribed to patients with cancer can be renewed using a telemedicine service.

Previously, electronic prescriptions for a number of hematological and oncological drugs could only be obtained at a face-to-face appointment with a doctor. The introduction of a telemedicine service into the work of all outpatient cancer care centers (CAOC) will save cancer patients from having to go to the clinic once again. This was announced on the official website mayor of Moscow.

“Remote renewal of a prescription occurs six days before the end of its validity period. First, the patient receives an SMS message with information about the upcoming telemedicine consultation, then the doctor calls him, ”the message explains.

Also, with the help of the telemedicine service, patients will be able to learn from the doctor about the decisions of oncoconsiliums, referral for hospitalization or chemotherapy, receive advice on taking medications and other issues from the doctor’s office.

To use the service, it is better to install the EMIAS: Telemedicine application. Users will receive the login and password required for authorization in the service in an SMS message. In the application, the doctor will communicate with the patient via video call.

If there is no opportunity to download the application, communication will take place using the contact number left by the patient.

All valid prescriptions will be available in the patient’s electronic medical record and in the EMIAS.INFO application. Also, information about the written prescriptions can be obtained at the information kiosk of any metropolitan outpatient cancer care center or polyclinic.
