In Miass, an abandoned kindergarten was turned into a sports center

The sports and health center was placed on the basis of the former kindergarten. The Minister of Sports of the Chelyabinsk Region Alexander Grib took part in its opening. This is reported by the publication “Miass worker”.

Landscaping of the former garden began in 2019. The work was carried out within the framework of the regional program “Real Affairs” and at the expense of the local budget. The roof was overhauled, windows, doors and heating system were replaced. According to the head of the Miass district, Grigory Tonkikh, the sports and fitness center plans to open its doors to pupils in February 2023. “The power supply, cold, hot water and sewerage systems were replaced in the building. Doorways widened and debris removed. A fire-fighting system and a video surveillance system have been installed, and a new ventilation system is now installed above the pool,” said Grigory Tonkikh.

According to Vladimir Vasiliev, head of the department for physical culture and sports, the two-story modules will house karate, chess, alpine skiing and freestyle departments.

Inventory will be stored on the ground floor. On the first floor there will be locker rooms, showers, and a coaching room. The second will have two halls – for general physical and special physical training.

Also, a small swimming pool for wellness procedures was restored in the center, and a gym and a sauna are planned to be located nearby. On the second floor there will be a large medical office.

Minister of Sports of the Chelyabinsk Region Alexander Grib noted that the transformed building makes a positive impression on him.

“One can only rejoice for Miass, for the fact that the city administration pays such attention to the development of infrastructure and the introduction of abandoned premises not just into circulation, but for children and sports. A good level worthy of Chelyabinsk!” he concluded.

Among the new visitors to the center are young karatekas of school No. 2, who are trained by Zhanna Pankova.

“The conditions here, of course, are incomparable to those in which we worked before. We plan to open reception of children from the age of seven years. I think about 30 young Miassians will train here,” the coach notes.

According to the director of SShOR No. 2, Alexander Seliverstov, several hundred athletes can train in the center:

“The goal is to cover the residents of Mashgorodok with sports, who now go to training in the central part. The center will start operating at full capacity in February 2023. Before that, we plan to hold a presentation in the form of an open day,” said Alexander Seliverstov.

Grigory Tonkikh assures that such results are only the first stage of a large project.

“Ahead is also the restoration of another wing, where we will unite residents of all generations – from children to veterans, who will lead an active and healthy lifestyle,” he said. And he also noted that it was decided that they would soon equip a trampoline center for freestylers.
