Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olga Stefanishyna promised that Kyiv would study a video showing the execution of surrendering Russian soldiers, CNBC reports. Stefanishina told reporters about this on the sidelines of a security forum in Halifax, Canada.
“Of course, the Ukrainian authorities will investigate this video,” the official said. But at the same time, she already stated in advance that it was “very unlikely” that the published footage proved the accusations voiced by Russia.
The video began to circulate on social networks on November 18. Presumably, what is happening on it was filmed in the village of Makeevka, Luhansk People’s Republic. In the footage, people in military uniforms similar to Russian ones leave the house one by one with their hands up and lie down on the ground – they surrender. Other people — in uniform with yellow armbands, presumably members of the Ukrainian army, are watching them, asking which of them is an officer. Then shots are heard on the video and the recording cuts off. Another video, taken from a quadrocopter, shows 12 military bodies lying in the same positions.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation called the incident “a mass bloody massacre of Ukrainian military personnel over unarmed Russian prisoners of war.” The ICR opened a criminal case under the article on the murder of two or more persons committed by a group of persons in connection with their official activities. The United Nations, where Russia applied, also began to study the video.
