The Ministry of Culture of Ukraine has deprived the protected status of two more Soviet monuments in Kyiv

The press service of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, in a publication on its social networks on Wednesday, reported that the department had deprived the protection status of two more monumental Soviet monuments in Kyiv.

According to a statement from the department, the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture recognized two Soviet monuments of monumental art as not subject to inclusion in the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine. In particular, we are talking about the monument to the participants of the January armed uprising of 1918, which is located in the Mariinsky Park, as well as the obelisk in honor of the hero city of Kiev, located on Galician Square.

It is noted that in connection with the deprivation of monuments of the protection status, local authorities can dismantle them without coordinating this with the cultural heritage protection authority.
