In Kurgan, traffic on several roads was blocked to ensure unhindered delivery of soil to strengthen the dam, the regional government reported. The decision was made due to a worsening forecast for the rise in the level of the Tobol River – it is expected to rise to 1100 cm.

According to press release Government of the Kurgan region, restrictions were introduced on the following routes:

Quarry—16 microdistrict;

Shadrinsky tract—Rodkina—Komissarov—Gvardeyskaya—Ushakova—Chekhovsky—Galkinsky—K. Myagotina—Nevezhina—Pushkin—Krivolapova—Kareltseva;

Zagorodnaya—Avtozavodskaya—Galkinsky—KZKT (Constitution)—turn—Bazhov – Engels;

Shkodino—Gagarin—Kuibysheva—Savelyeva—Sibirskaya.

The authorities clarified that traffic police officers will first of all allow vehicles involved in filling the dam, as well as special vehicles – ambulances and firefighters. Transport accessibility is maintained for residents of houses located along these routes, the press service added.

April 8 in Kurgan region introduced Regional emergency due to flooding. Yesterday, April 9, the head of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, Alexander Kurenkov, arrived in the region and flew over the flooded areas. He instructed heads of regions at risk of flooding to stock up on food. In the evening in the Zverinogolovsky district of the Kurgan region was announced forced evacuation.
