In Kaluga, the baton on Victory Day was moved to Volkov Square

In Kaluga, the track and field relay race on Victory Day was moved to Volkov Square. All the years it took place in the very center of the city – along Kirov Street. This year, the concept of the 76th relay race has changed, it was announced on Monday, April 24, during a working planning meeting in the city government.

“The traditional track and field relay race this year will be held in the Volkov Square,” Yana Vasina, head of the Kaluga Department of Culture, said at the planning meeting.

By tradition, the track and field relay race is held for the prize of the Mayor. Its start is given at noon on May 9th. Previously, the relay route ran along Kirov Street from Mira Square to Victory Square and back. Traffic for transport in the city was blocked.

Volkov Square in Kaluga has been landscaped, sports facilities have appeared in it. On the Day of the All-Russian Subbotnik, April 22, cleaning was carried out here.
