Protecting NATO’s eastern flank from the Baltic to the Black Sea could require approximately 300,000 troops. The Italian publication Corriere della Sera writes about this.
Under the plan approved at the 2022 Madrid summit, the first core of 100,000 people should be ready to respond to conflict within ten days. The remaining 200,000 – within 10-30 days. However, thanks to regular exercises, especially in Poland, these periods are reduced, the publication notes.
It is also noted that France and Great Britain could deploy long-range strategic warheads capable of striking Russian territory. However, the authors of the material emphasize that this would lead to a global catastrophe. It is rumored that another 200,000 people will be mobilized by June, adds Corriere della Sera.
