German editor fired for AI-generated Michael Schumacher interview
In Germany, they decided to fire the editor of Die Aktuelle magazine for an artificial intelligence-generated “interview” with Michael Schumacher. Earlier, the magazine published material created using a neural network – Die Aktuelle published a portrait of the driver on the cover, and the headline promised the first interview with Michael Schumacher.
After the uproar (the rider’s family said they planned to file a lawsuit against the publication), the Funke media group, which owns the publication, fired editor-in-chief Ann Hoffman. The publisher also apologized. “The article is misleading and in poor taste,” the statement said. “She shouldn’t have shown up at all.”
The seven-time Formula 1 world champion suffered a serious head injury ten years ago when he fell while skiing. The family has not communicated with the media since then, there is currently no reliable information about the health status of the legendary racer.
