On the eve of the active tourist season, ATOR warned of the bans and restrictions that are being introduced this summer by the authorities of European resort provinces and tourist centers. In particular, the association shared information about the Spanish, Italian and Greek directions.
In Spain, the authorities seem to have decided to focus on the fight against noise. For example, in Barcelona, guides have been banned from using megaphones. In Alicante, even just “loud sounds made by furniture” on the terraces of bars and restaurants, conversations in raised tones in rooms, including hotel rooms, and music on the beach are prohibited.
In addition, all beaches in Barcelona are now non-smoking. The same ban is introduced in the popular Balearic Islands.
Plus, on the little things: in Mallorca, the number of establishments where a dress code is in effect is expanding dramatically, prohibiting too informal clothing. In the same place, now it will not work out with impunity to order a table in an institution and not show up: when booking, the credit card number will now be fixed, from which a fine in the amount of a fifth of the average bill will be written off.
In Italy, it seems that the main concern of the authorities is the fight against traffic jams on tourist highways. For example, in Portofino, it is no longer possible to stop at popular photo spots. On the Amalfi Coast, the coastal section of the highway between the resorts of Vietri sul Mare and Positano will be closed alternately to cars with even and odd license plates. And of course, the dress code: on the Amalfi Coast, fines are introduced for swimwear, bikinis or bare breasts in public places.
About Greece, so far they only report that one of the most beautiful beaches is closed for tourists – Navagio on the island of Zakynthos. Tourists litter and arrive in huge crowds.
