In Donetsk, a child stepped on a PFM-1 “Petal” mine dropped by Ukrainian militants and was wounded. This was announced by the headquarters of the territorial defense of the Donetsk People’s Republic.
The headquarters’ Telegram channel says that a child born in 2007 was blown up by a PFM-1 mine on Semashko Avenue in the Kirovsky District. Over the past day in Donetsk, 2 more people were injured by anti-personnel mines. Residents have been advised not to leave their homes unless absolutely necessary. If mines are found, rescuers must be called.
Mines PFM-1 are almost invisible: they are small in size and have a green body. Their use is prohibited in armed conflicts due to the danger to civilians.
The ban is enshrined in the UN convention, to which 163 states, including Ukraine, have joined. Photo evidence of the use of such weapons by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Donbas was sent by Russia to the UN.
