In Dagestan, 83 rioters were detained at Makhachkala airport

At the moment, 83 people who took part in the riots at Makhachkala airport have been detained. About it reported press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the North Caucasus Federal District.

The police conducted more than 50 searches, seized equipment and phones proving the involvement of these people in organizing and participating in mass riots.

“The operational situation in the region is under the control of law enforcement agencies. The police warn that all attempts to complicate the operational situation in the republic will be immediately stopped,” the department added.

On October 29, a crowd of activists burst into Makhachkala airport as a flight from Israel arrived. The Investigative Committee for Dagestan opened a criminal case under Art. 212 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Airport operations were paralyzed until midday on October 30.

The head of Dagestan, Sergei Melikov, said that the unrest was preceded by calls disseminated by pro-Ukrainian Telegram channels. He noted, that the regional authorities have reliable data that the Morning Dagestan channel was broadcast from Ukraine. Founder of the messenger Pavel Durov statedthat channels calling for violence will be blocked “for violating the rules of Telegram, Google, Apple and the entire civilized world.”
