In Cheremkhovo, the Shakhtar stadium was named after Vasily Belik

In Cheremkhovo, after reconstruction, the Shakhtar stadium was opened. He was named after the honorary citizen of the city, football player, coach, sports veteran of the Russian Federation Vasily Stepanovich Belik. It is known that he contributed to the development of sports not only in the city, but in the region. This is reported by the site “Verb”.

Vasily Belik was born on January 7, 1925 in Slavinsk, Donetsk region. From childhood he was fond of sports and after graduating from school he entered the Irkutsk College of Physical Education. In 1945 he was drafted into the Red Army. After demobilization, he arrived in Cheremkhovo and began to work in the sports field.

Thanks to him, the Shakhtar team became the champion among the football teams of enterprises of the USSR Ministry of Coal Industry. In later years he was the club’s coach. In 1985-1989, he headed the sports committee of the Cheremkhovo Ore Repair Plant. He was an excellent student of physical culture and sports of the USSR, a veteran of sports of the Russian Federation.

In the 1990s, he created a museum of the city’s sports glory.

And in 1994, for his contribution to the development of physical culture and sports, he was awarded the title of “Honorary Citizen of the City of Cheremkhovo”.
