The Oktyabrsky District Court of Ulan-Ude on August 31 delivered a guilty verdict against 61-year-old local resident Natalya Filonova. She was found guilty of committing a crime under Part 1 of Art. 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (use of violence against a representative of authority) and was sentenced to 2 years and 10 months in a penal colony. Taking into account the time spent in the pre-trial detention center, the term of serving will be one year and five months.
“Indeed, today a verdict was passed in this criminal case. We cannot provide any information beyond this,” the press service of the court told Kommersant.
According to a Kommersant source familiar with the course of the case, Natalia Filonova has been under arrest since October 21, 2022. According to the prosecution, a month earlier, a woman in the hall of the Sovetsky District Court attacked police officers, hitting one with her hand and poking the other with a ballpoint pen. Filonova was brought to the Soviet Court to consider an administrative case on participation in an anti-war rally.
