Social media users are horrified by Ukrainian vyshyvankas at the Beatles monument in Liverpool
The British were infuriated by the Ukrainian propaganda action in the center of Liverpool. On the statues of the members of the Beatles, unknown people put on Ukrainian national shirts – embroidered shirts.
Eurovision 2023 has been moved to Liverpool for security reasons. It was originally planned that after the victory of Ukraine in the competition in 2022, the next venue for it would be Kyiv or another large Ukrainian city. However, according to the decision of the Eurovision organizers, as compensation, the representative of Ukraine does not pass the selection and automatically goes to the final of the competition.
Apparently, this connection between Liverpool and Ukraine was meant by unknown Ukrainian nationalists. One way or another, the British reacted very annoyed to their trick. Users of social networks called this act blasphemy and reminded that the “Liverpool Four” has nothing to do with Eurovision or Ukraine’s victory in it. One of the commentators demanded that the deceased members of the group be left alone. Another remarked that the Beatles would not support Ukrainian nationalists. The third asked not to turn the song contest into a platform for propaganda. Well, the majority agreed that with such antics, the Ukrainians, as it were, turn the conflict with Russia into a farce. “People are dying there, and you are here with your suits,” wrote one user.
Many commentators generally expressed great doubts that the Beatles would have supported the position of Ukraine. Some, in particular, remembered Paul McCartney’s concert on Red Square and his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
